Hi there, i've been using the FA-66 for the last couple of months, and just recently i tried (for the first time) to connect something to the PHONES input, and there's something weird seems to be happening: i can't hear anything! i have my two monitor speakers connected to output 1+2, and it's only when i plug them out that i begin to hear any sound on the phones. is this normal? i mean, i guess there's some logic in not having audio output from speakers and headphones simultaneously, but i know some other audio interfaces are capable of doing that.

Thanks for the tips Alexis.
I'm recording in a walkin closet.
I have no bouncing in high and mid frequencies but the problem is that I couldn't get rid of the low frecuencies bouncin so i'm getting some boomy sound in my recordings. The room is very small, its covered completely with acoustic foam except the shelves full of clothes. The measures are 5,6" long 4" width 7,55" height. Is there any advice you can give me on that???
I'm spanish voice talent located in Chile, south america.
Thanks in advance.

Well I've had one for a number of years and thought I was very happy with it. But I'd always used a little Soundcraft Compact Ten as a submixer, patched prior to the Solo. Working on a simple little voice only thing ATM and "YAHHHH!!!!!" - where the hell has all that high pitched whine come from??? It took a while and then I realized I'd NEVER used the inbuilt preamp and phantom power before, only the Soundcraft pre's.

I'm really lucky to have an AT 8501 phantom supply, so that got rid of the whine, but MUCH prefer the quieter (particularly at high levels) nicer pre's on the soundcraft.

So, disappointed. \8O( 5.5 out of 10

Hi, i have a presonus bluetube dual channel tube mic pre. i use it with an 8track recorder. i have been looking at the fa-66 because if i decided to change to a computer recording setup it would be handier to have a preamp that could also connect to the comp. i could use the analog outs to go to my 8track and if using a computer i could use the firewire. would this work yes?

also i would like to know about the mic preamps? are they good quality? would they be much of an upgrade to the presonus bluetube? if so how much of an upgrade?

I'm new to recording gear so i appreciate any replies!

Thanks!

Sascha, yes you can manually adjust with a blend knob (the direct monit knob) how much of the microphone's signal or how much playback from the PC signal gets sent through the monitors. Or you can disable the soft control so that it's only playback coming through the monitors.

Horto, it should plug into the macbook pro's firewire connector without any issues. The FA66 doesn't have a usb connector so you'd need to plug your usb dj interface into the macbook.
